Moyrazès: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Moyrazès lies at an altitude of around 700 metres on the heights of the Ségala Plateau. In clear weather, the panorama from the heights of Moyrazès can include Rodez, the Cantal, Aubrac, the Palanges, Lévézou and even the Pyrenees.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Médard was built in 1341 by the Bishop of Rodez as a chapel for the castle-like summer residence he had built there. It was partially rebuilt; on 5 August 1526, François d’Estaing authorised the work, which was to be financed through a voluntary taille tax.

The church in Moyrazès is a 16th-century Gothic building with a pentagonal choir. The Church of Saint Médard in Moyrazès is likewise a 16th-century Gothic building with a pentagonal choir.

The oratory on the heights of Moyrazès stands on the site of a former windmill. A tour of Moyrazès also takes in the former seigneurial prison complex.

Trails

The Pont de Comencau can be reached from the roadside car park near the hamlet of Caufour exclusively on foot or by mountain bike via an unpaved path. The 15th-century bridge spans the Aveyron River, forms part of the GR62B and lies within the territory of the municipalities of Moyrazès and Druelle.

The Cantagrel–La Maresque hiking trail is around 9 kilometres long and takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Les Planques–Aiguesvives trail is around 9.5 kilometres long and takes approximately 3 hours; a variant is 19 kilometres long and takes approximately 6 hours.

The Moulin d’Ayssens–Pont de Moyrazès trail has a basic route lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes. Variants cover 8.2 kilometres in 2 hours and 45 minutes, 9 kilometres in 3 hours or 12.5 kilometres in 4 hours.
