Boulay-Moselle: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The castle and fortifications of Boulay-Moselle were built in the Middle Ages under the rule of the Lords of Boulay. Of the former fortified town, the Dada Towers are the only surviving towers.

Culture

The Protestant temple of Boulay-Moselle was built in 1884 in the neo-Gothic style. Since 1905, it has housed an organ by Dalstein-Haerpfer.

The imposing red sandstone barn church, Église Saint-Etienne, was completed in 1782. It contains a baptismal font dating from 1518. Its Neoclassical organ has four manuals and 54 stops, as well as 3,600 pipes, including 114 façade pipes.

A building already stood on the site of the Chapelle Sainte-Croix in 1544; the chapel was rebuilt in 1713 by a hermit. The Dada Towers can be viewed free of charge and independently from the outside.

Walking Routes

The signposted circular hiking trail “Les dames Dadas” begins in Boulay-Moselle, is 9.9 kilometres long and is indicated as taking 2 hours and 30 minutes. The route climbs to a plateau offering panoramic views over Boulay-Moselle.

Another hiking route, “De Boulay-Moselle à Volmerange-lès-Boulay via Valmunster”, connects Boulay-Moselle with Volmerange-lès-Boulay via Valmunster and is 36.4 kilometres long.

Culinary Delights

Macarons de Boulay are made exclusively from fresh almonds, sugar and egg whites, and are shaped by hand with a spoon. Their recipe was perfected in 1854 by Monsieur and Madame Lazard.

Macarons de Boulay hold the state distinction “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” and the “Qualité MOSL” label. Guided tours for groups of up to 30 people are available for Macarons de Boulay.

Family Activities

Randoland in Coeur de Moselle offers fun walking trails in the style of a treasure hunt for families. Depending on age, the Randoland trails offer three investigation levels: for children aged 4 to 6, 7 to 9, and 10 and over.
