History

Fort de Vaux was built between 1881 and 1884. The temperature inside Fort de Vaux is 12°C year-round.

The Chapelle Saint-Jacques-et-Saint-Philippe and the clock tower were listed as historic monuments on December 15, 2021. The Saint Philippe et Saint-Jacques memorial chapel was built in 1933 by the architect Delangle. This memorial chapel is designated as a point of interest in the destroyed village of Vaux.

Nature

Étang de Vaux is a small pond at the confluence of the Fausse-Côte, Bazil, and Fontaines ravines. It was at the center of the fighting in March and April 1916.

From the viewpoint at Fort de Vaux, the view extends south over stands of spruce, shrubs, and deciduous vegetation, and north over stands of black pine.
