Culture and History

The Musée de la Fortification uses maps, models, reconstructions and photographs to explain the strategies of attack and defence, as well as the structure of a bastion.

The Musée Jules Bastien-Lepage et musée de la fortification presents fortifications dating from antiquity to the 20th century. It also preserves sketches, drawings and finished paintings by the Bastien-Lepage brothers.

Orientation

The Office de Tourisme de Montmédy is located at the entrance to the citadel. Admission to the museums also allows visitors to take a tour of the eastern ramparts, where there is an orientation board.

Visitors can drive to a designated visitor car park, which is on the right when leaving the tunnel.
