Culture
The Cité de l’Accordéon et des Patrimoines offers three permanent tours dedicated to the accordion, Tulle point lace and the history of the Manufacture d’armes. Its collections bear the French “Musée de France” label.
The handmade Tulle “Poinct” lace can be seen in the lace-makers’ workshop boutique on Place Emile-Zola.
History
The Maison Loyac, the oldest house in the district, dates from the late 15th century. Tulle’s historic districts can be explored on foot.
Tulle Cathedral was ransacked in November 1793 and converted into a forge for the Manufacture d’armes. The cloister in Tulle was built at the beginning of the 13th century.
Nature and trails
The Auzelou district is located on the Corrèze River and offers a natural area for relaxation, picnicking, sports and culture five minutes from the city centre. The Tulle Nature trails at Auzelou can be used for mountain biking, trail running, hiking and cycling.
Tulle Nature Trail No. 2: Forêt du Souvenir is a 4 km trail with an elevation gain of 80 m. It starts at the bathing area and reaches the Forêt du Souvenir after 1 km. The Forêt du Souvenir consists of 75 American oak trees; originally there were 99, commemorating the 99 people hanged in Tulle.
