History and Culture
The Grotte des Maquisards is a rocky shelter in the steep gorges of the Dordogne. From 15 March 1943, it was the site of a camp belonging to the Armée secrète of the Neuvic-Lapleau unit; in 1944, it was discovered by Vichy police forces. Access requires climbing, is not recommended in rainy weather and leads to a narrow, unsecured cave above a cliff.
The Maison du Patrimoine preserves a reconstruction of a 1930s classroom. It can be visited for a fee and exclusively by prior appointment.
The Church of Saint-Médard houses the statue “Saint Jacques le Majeur”, which was classified as a protected cultural object on 3 March 1966.
