Culture and history
The Maison de l’Art Roman is an interpretation centre dedicated to the former medieval Benedictine monastery of Saint-André. Its clear, engaging and interactive exhibition presents an exceptional Romanesque monument and medieval Catalonia. Guided and self-guided visits of the church and its exhibition are offered there.
The Église romane de Saint-André is a listed historic monument and was built between the 10th and 12th centuries. The guided tour “La Médiévale de Saint-André” explores the history, sculptures and anecdotes of the former abbey church of Saint-André.
Crafts and everyday history also form part of the character of the village: Les Verriers de Saint-André runs a mouth-blown glass workshop using traditional techniques without alteration. The Musée de la Vie Vintage displays objects from the period between 1860 and 1960.
In the village
The Ferme de Découverte de Saint-André is an animal and leisure park for children and families. The Maison de l’Art Roman also offers a tasting tour that combines the history of the site with Catalonia’s traditional riches, particularly local cuisine. This tour takes place under certain conditions and by arrangement with the booking service.
For cyclists, there is the “Mairie de Saint-André–EV8 Sorède” connection, a very easy 2.2-kilometre cycling route.
Local life
Festivities in Saint-André include a large paella on 13 July and the Fête de la Saint-André.
