Culture

The Chapelle de la Trinité was originally a parish church known as Saint-Pierre de la Serra. The present building dates from the 11th century and was extended in the 12th or 13th century. Since 12 June 1951, the chapel has been classified as a historic monument.

The Église Saint-Etienne also reflects several periods: its entrance portal is made of pink marble and dates from the 13th century. The church was formerly the parish church of Prunedell d’Avall; its construction dates back to the 10th and 11th centuries. At the same time, it is a rare example of pre-Romanesque religious architecture in Roussillon.

Prunet-et-Belpuig is also associated with the Aplec de la Trinité, a thousand-year-old Catalan pilgrimage tradition celebrating the Trinity.

In the vicinity of Prunet-et-Belpuig is the Chapelle Santa Engracià, a church. In the wider region are Castell de Cabrera, a castle, the Abbaye de Saint-Michel de Cuxa, a monastery, and Castell dels Moros, a historic site.

Nature
