The Église Saint-Michel-de-Riunoguès is an exceptionally well-preserved pre-Romanesque church, characteristic of buildings from the 9th and 10th centuries. Its roof, covered with slate slabs, is considered rare both in the Vallespir and in Roussillon. Inside, the church houses a carved altarpiece dating from 1739, depicting Saint Michael fighting the devil.

Culture

The Chapelle Saint Martin de Fenollar is also a pre-Romanesque church. Its significant frescoes were created in the first half of the 12th century. The Musée du Liège was founded in 1982 by former cork workers to pass on local expertise. It traces the journey from the cork oak to the cork stopper and the many uses of cork.

The Church of Saint Étienne preserves altarpieces, statues, a pulpit and other furnishings dating from the 13th to the 18th century.

Nature

The cork oak forests of Maureillas are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The Sentier du liège runs through these forests, where traces of cork harvesting can be observed.
