Boule-D'amont: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Prieuré de Serrabona has a finely sculpted marble tribune and a cloister; the capitals depict fantastic animals. Restored since the 1960s, the Prieuré de Serrabona now overlooks an extensive protected natural area. The Prieuré de Serrabona includes a Mediterranean garden and a landscape of forests and holm oaks.

The Église Saint-Saturnin has a single-nave layout and a semicircular apse decorated on the outside with arcades on pilasters. The west portal has door leaves with iron fittings secured by round-headed nails. The church houses five painted and gilded wooden altarpieces from the first decades of the 18th century, as well as works of art in the church treasury.

The Chapelle Saint Jean d'Arsus has been mentioned since the 11th century and was subordinate to the Prieuré de Serrabona until the 14th century. It later became the parish church and was abandoned in the 15th and 16th centuries, when the inhabitants favoured the village of Boule-d'Amont. The Chapelle Saint Jean d'Arsus is built of slate and has an iron door from Canigou.

Boule-d'Amont is located in the Massif des Aspres, a type 2 continental ZNIEFF area designated for its faunistic and floristic interest.

The Tour de Santa Anna is a difficult circular route in Boule-d'Amont, 49.4 km long and lasting 18:20 hours. It showcases the landscape and floristic richness of the Aspres at the transition between the high mountains and the plain, offers remarkable views of the Mediterranean at the edge of the Roussillon plain as well as of Canigou and the surrounding ridgelines, and passes through Mediterranean forests consisting predominantly of deciduous trees such as holm oaks, chestnuts and ash trees.

In the Aspres around Boule-d'Amont, there are numerous paths for hiking and cycling, often used for mountain biking and walks.

The GAEC Cabra de Serrabona produces raw-milk goat's cheese from April to December. On-site sales and visits are possible exclusively by prior appointment.
