Ispagnac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the beginning of August, Ispagnac hosts its annual pottery market. Twenty-five professional ceramicists take part, and there are also free demonstrations of traditional crafts.

Culture

The Church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul in Ispagnac is a remarkable Romanesque building dating from the 12th century. A sound-and-light show invites visitors to discover its interior.

Traces of the medieval fortifications have also been preserved in Ispagnac, including the remains of towers and gates. The former Château of Ispagnac has largely been redeveloped and now houses the Ursuline convent; a remarkable stone staircase has been preserved there.

Trails and Landscapes

Le tour d'Ispagnac – Trail n°41 passes through the vegetable gardens of Ispagnac and along the Tarn. The route is a hike of a few kilometres in the hills around Ispagnac and is described as not difficult.

Le Rocher des Fées – Trail n°43 starts in Ispagnac and passes through forests, across open viewpoints, through hamlets and along streams.

The surrounding area can also be explored by mountain bike on the Les jardins d'Ispagnac – VTT n°3 route, which runs through the gardens and vineyards of the villages of Ispagnac and Quézac to the Tarn.

The Site Patrimonial Remarquable of Ispagnac serves to preserve the landscapes of the valley at the entrance to the classified area of the Gorges du Tarn and the Jonte. This protection status has been in place since 17 December 2007 and replaced the former ZPPAUP in 2016.

The Tarn and Regional Character

From the starting point in Ispagnac, the Tarn passes through a gorge for 53 km to Le Rozier.

The Ispagnac Valley was called the “Jardin de la Lozère” because of its abundance of fruit, varied vegetables, wine and golden grapes.
