Culture and history

The first structure of the Église Saint-Martin was built between 919 and 925. The forecourt features a mission cross, light-coloured stone, rose bushes and a small parish garden.

The Croix de Reboul is one of Sussargues’ oldest mission crosses and is located on a hill.

The quarries of Sussargues occasionally contain capitelles, small dry-stone huts that served quarry workers as shelters or places to store their tools.

Getting around

Sussargues is served by bus route 27 between Castelnau-le-Lez, Notre-Dame de Sablassou stop, and Sussargues. Baillargues railway station can be reached from Sussargues by minibus, by prior reservation, during certain time windows.

Circular trails

The Sentier des quatre carrières leads to former quarries and provides insights into the work of the quarry workers who once worked there, the “calus”.

Along the Sentier des quatre carrières, you can see tracks left by carts embedded in the rock, as well as unusual sculptures at the Font d’Armand. The trail passes through Valentibus to the entrance of Sussargues.

The Boucle de Reganhat passes a stone dry-stone hut belonging to a quarry worker, former extraction sites, information panels and old tools.

The short circular hike Boucle de Reganhat offers an insight into the hard work of the “calus” who worked in the quarries.
