Oupia: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Landscape

Oupia lies at the foot of the Serre, surrounded by vineyards. The old village overlooks the plain. From Oupia, there is a panoramic view of Beaufort.

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Oupia can include this in their travel plans.

Culture

Two murals add distinctive touches: the mural “APOCALYPSE WINE” created in 2021 by PHAZES on the former washhouse in Oupia depicts the changes in climate and nature in a futuristic way. The mural “L'ANCIENNE GARE” created in 2024 by Raphaël Poron reconstructs the former Aude tramway, which served the villages of the Minervois from Lézignan to Carcassonne.

The origins of Château d'Oupia date back to the 12th century. At Place du Fort, the remains of two successive construction phases of the Church of Saint-Étienne were uncovered: first, a Carolingian church with a flat-ended apse, followed by a late Romanesque or Gothic church dating from the end of the 12th or the beginning of the 13th century. It was rebuilt in the Gothic style at the end of the 19th century; it also contains a carved altar support from the Visigothic period.

Experiences

Le Bosquet is located above the village around the former water tower. A zip line, a hut, and wooden tables and benches have been installed there.

At the former water tower of Le Bosquet, the village children designed the concrete of the former water reservoir under the direction of Raphaël Poron.
