Nature and Trails
Aumes lies among vineyards and garrigue. Numerous hiking and mountain biking routes around the village pass through the surrounding garrigue and allow visitors to discover the castles of Marennes and Saint Martin de Grave.
The Sentier du Pas du Lièvre is a 3-kilometre hiking trail with a walking time of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. It is marked in red and signposted with wooden posts bearing hare symbols.
Culture and History
The Chapelle Notre-Dame was built in 1220 in the Romanesque style from shell limestone. Today, it houses the media library and a small archaeological museum of the oppidum.
The Église Saint-Aubin was built in 1887 in the Neo-Gothic style. The Oppidum d'Aumes was an important trading centre where numerous coins were found. Remains from the Iron Age were also discovered in Aumes; a statue of Hermes, a tuff-stone lion, a capital and a funerary stele bear witness to the history of the village.
An excursion at the foot of the Oppidum d'Aumes offers a 180-degree view over the Hérault Valley.
Aumes has a covered fountain protected by a polygonal shell-limestone structure with a stone roof. There are two other covered fountains in the village.

In the surroundings of Aumes, the wines of Château Saint-Martin de Graves combine the mildness of the Mediterranean climate with the aromatic complexity of the garrigue.
