The medieval Circulade, also known as “l'escargot”, surrounds the Saint-Martin church in Aigne and bears witness to an earlier village centre. Those who have chosen Aigne as their destination may want to rent a holiday apartment here.
The Saint-Martin church features a Romanesque style with Gothic additions; its most recent decorated bell is listed as a historic monument. Aigne’s dovecote dates from the late 16th century, and the year 1599 is engraved on the lintel. The village’s architecture is shaped by a main street that winds its way to the heart of the village. Numerous artists and craftspeople have established their studios in Aigne and welcome visitors there.
The wider area around Aigne is home to the historic Abbaye Notre Dame site, the Grange de Fontcalvy ruins, the historic Monastere Notre-Dame de Gaussan site and the Abbaye Sainte-Marie des Olieux ruins.
Landscape
The landscape around Aigne comprises vineyard ridges and hills dotted with huts, mazets and dry-stone structures. From the hill south of the village of Aigne, there is a view of the plateau planted with vines and olive trees and divided by dry-stone walls.

Getting Around
