Swimming in the Cèze is prohibited outside the bathing area at the Pont de Rivières. The ruins of Château d'Allègre are located in the immediate vicinity of Rivières. Serre de Vambelle, Serre Noir, Gautefrache and Serre de fons are also nearby, each one a summit.

Culture and History

The choir of the church in Rivières was lavishly decorated in 1864 by Melchior Doze from Nîmes. The main construction phase of Château de Theyrargues dates back to the 14th century. In the 14th century, Château de Theyrargues contributed to the western defence of Avignon and the Venaissin. The façades and the roof covering of the eastern tower of Château de Theyrargues were placed under heritage protection on 19 April 1974.

The Ancien hôpital was built at the beginning of the 18th century by the architect Guillaume Rollin. Construction began in 1714 with the chapel wing and was completed in 1717. On 8 July 2009, the Ancien hôpital was placed under heritage protection in its entirety, including the enclosure and boundary walls.

The wider regional surroundings of Rivières include the ruins of Abbaye de Valsauve (1217–1375). They are also home to the Abbatiale de Goudargues monastery and the historic site of Notre-Dames des Fonts Saint Bernard et Sainte Claire.

Events

Not’et Mot is an event held in summer on the village square featuring local and regional authors. The Marché aux plantes et saveurs is held repeatedly. A third edition was planned for 2023; an event in Rivières was announced for Sunday, 19 April, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
