Villebazy is situated on a small rocky hill overlooking the surrounding area. The village is a wine-growing community and lies within the production area of Blanquette de Limoux.

Nature
A circular hiking route from Villebazy allows visitors to discover the Crausse Forest. A hike starting from the village of Villebazy also offers the opportunity to discover the Crausse-Rabassié State Forest.
Places and Activities
La Ferme de Lamoure is an equestrian and educational farm in Villebazy. It offers half-hour pony rides led by hand, as well as one- or two-hour horseback rides and half-day or full-day riding tours. The range of activities also includes self-guided visits, guided group visits and animal-assisted educational activities.
History
The origins of Villebazy date back to the 9th century. Villebazy once had a fortified castle, of which no traces remain. This former castle successively belonged to the Counts of Carcassonne and later to Saint-Hilaire Abbey.
The upper part of the bell tower collapsed due to damage, after which the bell tower was shortened for safety reasons.
Culture and Remembrance
The Maquis de Coummemazière in the Crausse State Forest fell on 17 July 1944 during an attack by the German army. Every year, local residents, municipal politicians from the former canton of Saint-Hilairois, and members of Fnaca and Souvenir français commemorate the Maquis de Coummemazière.
During an excursion, a stop was made at the small Saint-Fructueux church in Villebazy to admire the renovated paintings. Cantauque Monastery has several rooms for accommodating pilgrims and people seeking retreat or wishing to learn more about Orthodoxy.

For the Toques et Clochers event announced for 23 March, Gardie and Villebazy joined forces so that visitors could discover the exceptional beauty of the landscape, the distinctive slopes and the wines of the year.
