Roquefeuil: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature
The ZNIEFF Tourbière du Pinet also extends into Roquefeuil and covers 341.31 hectares. The natural area of Tourbière du Pinet comprises peatlands, woodland, pastures and hay meadows.
Climbing
The only sector currently equipped for climbing, Scaramus, has around 15 routes ranging from 20 to 25 metres in length, with grades from 5b+ to 7b. The climbing crag at Pic des Sarrasis is a south-facing limestone cliff sheltered from the wind.
The climbing crag can be reached after a 10-minute walk from the pass between Belcaire and Roquefeuil; the walk takes 30 minutes from Roquefeuil’s large car park.
Culture
Roquefeuil’s church is named Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Its west portal has been listed as a historic monument since 7 April 1952. An altarpiece was installed at the back of the choir at the end of the 17th century.
The new church in the centre of Roquefeuil dates from 1540. The site of the former Saint-Martin church near the old castle is now marked by a cross.
Roquefeuil’s village square is home to a wash house and the “Mare aux fées”. The legend of the “Mare aux fées” tells that the Encantadas (fairies) of the Trou du Trésor helped the villagers wash the clothes of those who had died during a deadly epidemic, presumably during the cholera epidemic of 1854.
