The AOP Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois wine-growing area extends across the municipality of the same name. Muscat à petit grain is used to produce a naturally sweet wine. Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois was recognised as an AOC in 1948.
A guided tour of Domaine de Montahuc begins in the winery’s courtyard in the village of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois. It starts with an approximately 10-minute walk to one of the vineyard plots and ends with a tasting of the winery’s wines, accompanied by some local tapas.

Culture and History
The first documented mention of the Chapelle Saint-Jean de Dieuvaille dates back to 940. Several capitelles can be discovered in the municipality of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois. The village’s dry-stone heritage includes capitelles, dry-stone walls and clapas.
The Chapelle Saint-Jean de Dieuvaille can only be reached on foot. The best access is from Barroubio via a track followed by a path after approximately one to two kilometres.

The “les causses du Minervois” area covers 21,805 hectares and is important for the preservation of roosts and hunting grounds for cave-dwelling bats. The “le Minervois” area covers 24,820 hectares and was designated for the conservation of birds listed in Annex I of the Birds Directive, particularly Bonelli’s eagle and the golden eagle.
