Palaja is home to a clearly dated historic monument, the Tour de Cazaban: it has been protected as a Monument historique since its listing on 24 April 1953. The square tower was converted into a dovecote in its upper section.

Culture
The present-day Church of Saint-Étienne stands on the site of an original Church of Saint-Étienne, whose Notre-Dame altar was consecrated by Bishop Gimer in 917. The current church was built in the first half of the 14th century during the episcopate of Pierre de Rochefort. It is a fortified Gothic building with loopholes; since 1961, the church has been listed in the supplementary inventory of Monuments historiques.
The origins of the Prieuré de Saint Foulc date back to the beginning of the 11th century. At the site, there is a car park, a rest area, a footpath and an information board. The Oratoire de la Vierge is an old chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. For several years, the association Les Amis du Vieux Palaja has organised a procession there on 15 August.
Les Arcades are a former aqueduct that supplied the château with water. Today, they are also a popular place for walks, used by many residents of Palaja.
Landscape
Palaja lies on the first foothills of the Corbières. The landscape includes garrigue vegetation, pine and holm oak forests, and rocky slopes.
Activities
The immediate surroundings of Palaja offer opportunities for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. The trail in question is intended exclusively for pedestrians, horse riders and mountain bikers; motorised vehicles are prohibited there.
The trail is approximately 7 kilometres long and offers various options depending on the time available and your physical condition.
