Fontiers-Cabardès is located 25 kilometres from Carcassonne on an elevated hilltop of the Montagne Noire. The village overlooks the valleys of the Aude and the Pyrenees as well as the Corbières; to the east, there is a view of the 1,210-metre-high Pic de Nore.

Landscape
The landscape includes the Forêt de la Loubatière, which is designated as a type 1 continental ZNIEFF and also encompasses the municipality of Fontiers-Cabardès. The area covers 674 hectares and is located in the Massif de la Montagne Noire.
The Forêt de la Loubatière also includes the source region of the River Linon in the state-owned Forêt domaniale de la Loubatière forest.
Culture
The Église Saint-Clément is partially listed as a Monument historique, with the exception of the porch; the listing took place on 14 April 1948. Its main construction phase dates from the 16th century, with documented construction campaigns taking place in 1537 and 1552.
The church has a single-nave layout, six side chapels and sculpted architectural details.
Le Bosquet Le Nôtre is the main square of Fontiers-Cabardès. Its design is attributed to the famous gardener André Le Nôtre (1613–1700).
La Tour de l'horloge dates from the 16th century and is 18 metres high.
Events
Les fêtes de Fontiers comprise three days of events and take place on the last weekend of August.
Hiking
A hike starts at the Lavoir de Fontiers-Cabardès. A hike from the washhouse of Fontiers-Cabardès initially leads through the forest and crosses the Ruisseau du Rousset.
