Culture and History
The hosiery industry gave Troyes a worldwide reputation. The Hôtel du Lion Noir was built at the end of the 16th century by a wealthy merchant who was connected to noble families from Troyes. During the restoration of the Hôtel du Lion Noir, a sculpted Renaissance façade was uncovered beneath the plaster.
In the southern chapel, visitors can admire the delicate statue “Vierge au Raisin”; it is representative of the “École troyenne” of the 16th century.
