Culture and History

The Church of Saint Gervais and Saint Protais in Traînel dates from the 12th century. The Church of Saint Gervais was the seat of the parish and the priory. The high altar is decorated with statues from the 16th century; the church also houses a painting of the Martyrdom of Saint Gervais, painted by Anne-François Arnaud in the 18th century.

The municipal area of Traînel is characterised by a largely agricultural plain crossed from east to west by the Orvin Valley.

Hiking

The UCTL40-marche6km circular route is an easy 6.5-kilometre hiking trail with a stated duration of two hours. It starts at 10 Chemin Saint Barthelemy, 1, in Traînel, follows the Orvin and crosses a hill offering views of Traînel, the Sourdun Forest and Nogent-sur-Seine.

The hike “Randonnée de Traînel, dans la vallée de l'Orvin” passes old wells and washhouses, stone bridges over the Orvin and smaller streams, as well as houses made of red brick.
