Bessy is home to the Church of Saint-Michel, which dates back to the 12th century. Its choir and part of the transept are the oldest sections; the remaining parts of the church date from the 16th century.

Nature
The Marais des Pelles in Bessy contains one of the valley’s last marshlands; four protected plant species can be found there. It is designated as a continental ZNIEFF Type 1 and covers just over 8 hectares. Bessy is also part of the Natura 2000 site FR2112012 “Marigny, Superbe, vallée de l’Aube”.
History
The lords of Bessy are documented as early as 1229. Gabriel Maurière, the pseudonym of Marie Gabriel Henri Legrand, was born in Bessy in 1873 and is regarded as a prolific writer. At the age of eight, he moved to Charmont after his father was appointed a teacher there.
Trails
In the immediate vicinity of the Bessy–Pouan area, there are easy hiking trails that run mainly along the Aube, the Seine and the Canal de la Haute-Seine. A Greenway also runs through the Bessy–Pouan area nearby; it connects Saint-Oulph with Dienville, passing through Troyes. The “De l'Aube à la Barbuise” route also runs nearby for 65 kilometres and is classified as easy.
