History and Culture

The Église Saint-Calais in Fortan dates from the 15th century and was rebuilt after the Hundred Years' War. In the Middle Ages, the parish of Fortan belonged to the Diocese of Le Mans. Fortan also had a priory founded by a lord of Les Roches, which was subordinate to the Abbey of Saint-Calais.
