History and Buildings

The Maison du Passeur commemorates the ferry service across the Vienne that operated there until 1932. A small viewpoint was created on the remains of the first bridge structure built there in 1932. The village church of Marcilly-sur-Vienne is an attractive 15th-century building resembling a seigneurial chapel. La Rochellerie is a former manor house; the year 1692 engraved into one of its window openings may indicate when it was built.

La Case des chasseurs in Marcilly-sur-Vienne is a replica of the traditional hunting hut used by hunters in the Mandé region of southern Mali. Le Marais was a former seigneurial farm that was under the authority of Château de la Motte.

The former Société Pellé et Cie limeworks in Le Sourd was built in 1881 with four lime kilns and ceased operations in 1962. Industrial remains of this former limeworks have been preserved.
