Culture and History

The Tuilerie was operated by brickmakers until the First World War and ceased operations around 1915. The kiln at the Tuilerie was used to produce roof tiles, bricks, floor tiles and natural lime.

Part of the municipality of Chanceaux-près-Loches lies within the Champeigne Tourangelle Natura 2000 site. Its designation was justified by the protection of nine bird species of community interest found in open-country habitats: little bustard, Eurasian stone-curlew, European golden plover, hen harrier, Montagu’s harrier, short-eared owl, merlin, short-toed snake eagle and red-backed shrike.

Literature

La Forêt des Livres chez Gonzague Saint Bris in Chanceaux-près-Loches is free and open to everyone. The event brings writers and readers together for literary events, discussions and book signings. It takes place every year on the last Sunday in August, marking the beginning of the literary season.

Cycling

The signposted, 32-kilometre cycling route La Tangente Gourmande connects Loches with Saint-Jacques à Vélo and Le Louroux. Among other things, it provides an opportunity to discover restaurants in Chanceaux-près-Loches and Le Louroux.
