Vinneuf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vinneuf combines distinctive religious buildings with canals, locks and bodies of water. In the Église Saint-Georges, the pointed-arch portal bears a construction date from the 13th century and is framed by six columns with foliage capitals. The interior also contains a timber-vaulted nave and a rib-vaulted choir dating from the 15th century.
Culture
The Église Saint-Georges contains a stone Renaissance altarpiece. It depicts the martyrdom of the first Christians and the legend of Saint George. The altarpiece of Saint George also illustrates the saint’s miracles and martyrdom.
The Notre-Dame de Champ-Rond chapel dates from the 12th century and is located in the forest. After a fire, it was rebuilt at the same site in 1656; materials from the original building were reused in the process. The chapel is also a popular meeting place for hikers.
Beside the pavement stands the Calvary of the Croix Sainte-Trinité, a monument that has existed for several centuries. It is surrounded by low walls and planted with roses. The oratory of the Croix de Saint-Nicolas has existed for three centuries, was mentioned in a document from 1687 and marks the boundary of the Gacogne district.
Water and Landscape
The Plan d'eau des Graviers covers 14 hectares. The body of water is open to everyone and equipped for recreation, picnics and sporting activities. Its facilities include a fitness trail.
Walkers can hike around the Plan d'eau des Isles; it is located on the Port-Renard side.
History and Trails
The Vinneuf Canal was completed in 1873; a lock was built in Vinneuf as part of the project. The “Ecluse 25 de Vinneuf” is a mechanised lock in Vinneuf. The canal is crossed by four identical bridges, including the Vinneuf bridge.
