Jussy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Église Notre-Dame has been protected as a historic monument since a protection order dated February 16, 2012. It preserves a nave dating from the 12th century and part of its wooden structure.

On the Grande Rue, visitors can see winemakers’ houses with frequently round-arched portals and cellar entrances. Inside the Église Notre-Dame are a polychrome wooden Christ, a seated Burgundian Madonna, and Saint Anne.

During the Wars of Religion, Jussy was largely burned down; the church and some houses were spared by the fire.

Landscape

The landscape around Jussy is hilly and characterized by expansive slopes. These slopes are covered with vineyards and orchards; during the cherry blossom season, they become a seasonal floral landscape.

The soils in the region around Jussy consist of clay and limestone and are rich in marine fossils, which testify to an earlier marine environment.

The Source de Tourbenay, located along the route starting from Jussy, bubbles year-round. The Bois de la Garenne lies along the hiking trail starting from Jussy; depending on the season, you can find lily of the valley or wild asparagus there.

Those who choose Jussy as a travel destination want to rent a holiday apartment.

Hiking Trails

Route 26, “du Tourbenay,” also begins in Jussy, is 5 km long, and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The hike La randonnée des trois clochers passes through the wine-growing villages of Escolives-Sainte-Camille, Jussy, and Coulanges-la-Vineuse. It is accessible year-round and is suitable for hiking on foot, by bicycle, and on horseback.

Local Produce

Jussy is known for winegrowing and fruit cultivation; after the 20th century and the phylloxera crisis, cherry cultivation spread widely. Domaine Clément produces the wines of the Bourgogne Coulanges-la-Vineuse appellation in white, red, and rosé varieties, as well as white and red Ratafia.
