Appoigny: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The square tower of the collegiate church of Saint-Pierre in Appoigny was built in the 16th century. The collegiate church also has a monumental Renaissance rood screen from the early 17th century; it is one of the few surviving examples in the Yonne department.

History

The Château de Régennes was a regular residence of the bishops of Auxerre until the French Revolution. In the immediate vicinity of Appoigny, the Château de Régennes is a castle.

The Pierre Saint-Martin megalith lies on the exact boundary between Appoigny, Branches, Charbuy and Perrigny. The Pierre Saint-Martin is an ancient object whose origin and function remain a mystery.

Surroundings

The Artothèque d'Auxerre is a museum in the vicinity of Appoigny. Notre-Dame des Isles, a historic site, and the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne d'Auxerre, also a historic site, are likewise located nearby. Mont Avrelot is a hill in the wider regional surroundings of Appoigny.

Hiking

Many walkers pass by the Pierre Saint-Martin today. In 2025, two hiking routes of approximately 10 and 13 kilometres respectively were offered around Appoigny on the first Sunday of each month.
