Sainte-Marine: Holiday Apartments and Houses

In Sainte-Marine, architectural history, maritime culture and landscape come together. The Chapelle de Sainte-Marine was built in the 16th century and was the first building in the port of Sainte-Marine; maritime ex-votos hang in its roof timbers.

Culture and History

The history of the village includes several notable buildings. The Abri du Marin in Sainte-Marine was built in 1910 and is listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. The Fort de Sainte-Marine was built in 1862 under Napoleon III.

The Musée Abri du Marin has a permanent exhibition on the history of the abris and the lives of fishermen. There are also changing exhibitions on maritime themes, featuring photographs and objects that illustrate everyday life in Breton ports. From June to September, the Fort de Sainte-Marine hosts exhibitions of contemporary art featuring paintings, sculptures, photographs or installations.

The local tradition also has a maritime connection: the Pardon de Sainte-Marine takes place on the second Sunday in July and includes a blessing of the sea.

Water and Shoreline

From April to September, the P'tit Bac once again connects Sainte-Marine and Bénodet for pedestrians and cyclists. On the banks of the Odet lies Parc de Kérobistin, a public park that is open all year round.

Near the port of Sainte-Marine is the park at Treizour – Jardin du Passeur; in summer, it hosts concerts.

Paths and Landscape

The Tour de ville de Combrit Sainte-Marine is an easy 3.7-kilometre walking route with eight points of interest. The Polder de Combrit Sainte-Marine is used as a walking area all year round and is a reservoir of biodiversity.

The Bois de Roscouré has been owned by the Conservatoire du littoral since 1983. A marked hiking trail allows visitors to explore the Bois de Roscouré.

In the surroundings of Sainte-Marine lies the Étang de Kermor on the border between the municipalities of Combrit Sainte-Marine and Île-Tudy; it is designated as a Special Protection Area in the Natura 2000 network. The GR34 runs along the edge of the dunes beside Pen Morvan beach.
