Mont Bar is a Strombolian volcano whose crater contains a peat bog. This peat bog is classified and protected as a Natura 2000 site. The Maison du Mont Bar offers an interactive and educational tour focusing on volcanism, peat bogs, biodiversity and sustainable development. Hiking trails also lead to the summit of Mont Bar.

Culture
La Potence is the ruin of the southern façade of the former Château d’Allègre. It also offers a viewpoint over the hilly landscape of Velay and traces of former volcanoes.
The nave of the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-l’Oratoire was built in 1650. A procession from the parish church of Allègre to the chapel is still held today on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
Construction of the Gothic Église Saint Martin began before 1512 and was completed shortly after 1527. In 1961 and 1962, the church was restored in a modern style.
The Fêtes médiévales d’Allègre reached their 34th edition in 2026. In 2026, the programme included a medieval market, artisans and demonstrations of traditional craft techniques.
The Portail de Monsieur is the southern entrance gate to the Château d’Allègre and was built between 1365 and 1435. It is listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. Its two towers are relatively well preserved; loopholes are visible on the left tower.
The Hôtel des Grellet was built in 1435 on the town walls of Allègre and completed in 1485. The Hôtel des Guérins de Pouzols was also built in 1435 and retains its historic stair tower.
The Porte de Ravel retains one of its two flanking towers, which is relatively well preserved. The hinges and openings for the iron bolts are also still visible at the Porte de Ravel.
Trails
The first stage of the GR 40 Tour des volcans du Velay runs from Vorey-sur-Arzon to Allègre. The PR560 Allègre aux deux volcans hiking route starts and ends in Allègre and leads to the ruins of the Château d’Allègre.
The GRP Chavaniac-Lafayette–Allègre hiking stage reaches Allègre via Rue Porte-de-Monsieur.

The Marché d’Allègre on Place de l’Ancienne Halle offers vegetables, meat, fish and other non-food products.
