The Moulins–Cosne economic railway line was opened in sections in 1886 and 1887; the Buxières–Cosne section opened on 13 October 1887. The Buxières-les-Mines weekly market takes place at Place Louis Ganne on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. year-round.
