The Circuit de la Tourbière et de Port Carrère circular trail leads through the landscapes along the Adour and their associated habitats and can be explored on foot or by mountain bike.

By the Adour

History and Architecture

Port Carrère on the Adour was once a port for Pyrenean stone and is now a fishing port for glass eel fishing.

Port Carrère is home to two 16th-century harbour buildings that formerly served as customs or toll stations.

The Church of Saint-Pierre in Orist preserves a Romanesque apse with an externally mounted billet frieze supported by seventeen carved modillions. Orist also has some remains of a Chappe telegraph tower on the Bordeaux–Bayonne line.

Château de Dax, a historic site, is located in the vicinity of Orist. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame, a church, is also located in the vicinity of Orist.
