Culture

The Church of Saint Martin in Garrosse preserves a Romanesque eastern end dating from the 12th century.

Its architectural design includes a semicircular apse vaulted with a semi-dome, as well as an attached bell-tower porch at the southwestern corner of the nave.

The 12th-century map of the churches of the Diocese of Dax lists the church under the name “Sanctus Matinus de Garros”.

When planning a trip including Garrosse, Saint Martin and Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, renting a holiday apartment can be considered.

Nature

The water from the Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs spring in Garrosse has a very strong sulphurous smell.

A small modern structure with a statue of the Virgin Mary stands above the spring.

Routes

A circular trail in Garrosse begins at the village washhouse and leads to the Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs spring.

The route “Circuit des sources en Pays Morcenais – Garrosse Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs” is part of a network of eight developed springs in the Pays Morcenais, extending over 105 kilometres.

Tradition

Visitors can play Rampeau near the inn in the village. Rampeau is a traditional skittles game.
