Lalande-De-Pomerol: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Lalande-de-Pomerol, Romanesque sacred architecture meets viticulture. The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century and is one of the rare examples of the architecture used by the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem in their commanderies in Western Europe.

The circular cycling route “Boucle vélo: Néac et Lalande de Pomerol” is 13 kilometres long, takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, and has a moderate difficulty level. It leads through gently hilly wine-growing landscapes of the Saint-Georges Saint-Émilion and Lalande-de-Pomerol appellations. The vineyards of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation extend across successive terraces through the communes of Néac and Lalande-de-Pomerol.

Wine

Château Castel Viaud is a family-run winery covering 18 hectares in the centre of Lalande-de-Pomerol, 15 hectares of which are within the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. A guided tour begins with an explanation of the terroir and vineyard work, includes an introduction to the winemaking process in the cellar, and ends with a tasting of selected wines from the estate.

Château des Moines offers paid guided wine tastings for individuals and groups exclusively by appointment. The Syndicat Viticole de Lalande-de-Pomerol has a permanent exhibition featuring photographs and paintings related to vines and wine, and sells gift sets for discovering the wines on site.

Château des Capucins in Lalande-de-Pomerol offers free tours. Its vineyard and winery are in the process of conversion to organic viticulture.
