“Le Pavillon” by Didier Marcel is work no. 17 of the Forêt d’Art Contemporain on the A65 in Captieux. The work is located between the forest and the motorway and connects the perceptions of motorists and walkers. It consists of three solid shafts topped by a scaled-down Canadian tent.

Nature and Trails

Lac de Taste is located 2 km from the village of Captieux. A path leads around Lac de Taste and includes a landscaped sports trail for walking or running. There is a small beach by the lake, suitable for a peaceful picnic. Swimming in Lac de Taste is prohibited to protect this natural setting.

The Route des Airials is a discovery loop through the plateaus of Gironde and introduces traditional airials with an open settlement structure. It starts at the town hall square in Captieux, opposite the church.

Events and History

The “Rugby y toros” feria takes place regularly in Captieux in June. The “Fête des Bœufs Gras” takes place in Captieux in February. Captieux also has a cinema and a cultural centre where numerous performances are held. The historic Ville of Captieux was an old settlement subordinate to the castle, of the fortified castle-settlement type.
