The Réserve Naturelle Nationale de l'île de Rhinau comprises riparian forests, wet meadows, reed beds, ponds and waterways that are home to exceptional biological diversity.

Culture
The Colonne de la Vierge is a tall sandstone column on a pedestal with two reliefs and two inscriptions; it is crowned by a gilded cast-iron statue of the Virgin Mary. The Rhinau parish erected it in 1862, after the Rhine experienced major flooding in 1861. Since 1971, it has stood at its present location near the ferry.
The Eglise St Michel in Rhinau was rebuilt from 1955 to 1959 after suffering severe damage during the bombings of 1944. To the right of the present building is the choir of the former church, made of pink sandstone and consecrated in 1540.
Activities
The 35-kilometre cycle route Circuit vélo Au fil de l'eau et des villages begins in Rhinau and follows the banks of the Brunnwasser to Daubensand. In addition, the digital cycling tour Les trésors du Rhin - à vélo dans l'île de Rhinau includes the 20-kilometre circular route Petit Foxy, which takes two hours.

The Sentier des sources is an educational trail that leads through forests and fields to natural springs.
Local Life
The weekly Rhinau terroir market on Saturday mornings brings together around fifteen traders and producers. They sell wine, honey and garlic; there is also a butcher, a mobile bookshop, a soap maker and activities for children.
