Aitoo combines a Midsummer rock and pop festival with opportunities for outdoor activities, disc golf, swimming and berry picking. The village in the municipality of Pälkäne offers different reasons to visit, from a three-day festival to individual leisure activities. When planning your trip, the first question is whether the Kirkastusjuhlat will be the main focus of your stay or whether you are primarily looking for outdoor activities.

The Kirkastusjuhlat at Midsummer

Since 1882, the Aitoon Kirkastusjuhlat, also known as the Kirkkarit, has been held as a three-day festival in the village of Aitoo in the municipality of Pälkäne. It is a rock and pop festival held annually around Midsummer. If you choose Aitoo for its music and culture, you can plan your stay around a specific annual event: three days of festival at Midsummer.

Artists perform on two covered indoor stages: Rokkiliiteri is the main stage, and Juhlatalo Honkala is the second stage. This means visitors stay dry even if it rains. The multi-day festival and its two named stages give the visit a clear musical focus.

Outdoor activities on the fitness trail and at the disc golf course

The Aitoo outdoor fitness trail is 2.5 km long and lit until around 10 pm. There is a covered laavu, or rest shelter, along the route. If you would like to include some exercise in your trip, you will find a clearly measured route and a place to rest along the way. The hours when the trail is lit are also something to consider when planning your day.

The Aitoo DiscGolfPark adds a nine-hole course to the options. This gives you a choice of different types of activity: a trail with a laavu along the way, or disc golf on a course with a clearly stated number of holes. You can plan your day around whichever activity you prefer.

Swimming beaches and beach volleyball

Aitoon kylänranta and Kankahuvenranta are public swimming beaches in Aitoo. You can consider these two named beach locations for a swimming trip. Beach volleyball is also available at Kankahuvenranta, at Kankahuventie 74. If you would like to combine swimming with this sport, Kankahuvenranta is the specific option; Aitoon kylänranta is also a public swimming beach.

Pick your own berries

At the Luomuakin berry farm in Aitoo, in the municipality of Pälkäne, families can also pick organic strawberries and raspberries. Here, the picking itself is the focus, offering a different kind of outing from a festival or sports activity. Families who would like to include a berry-picking activity in their trip can plan a visit to the farm.

Choose Aitoo as a holiday destination

When looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Aitoo, you can start by deciding what you want to do on your trip. A stay centred on the Kirkastusjuhlat is planned around the annual Midsummer date and includes three festival days. If you have a different focus, you can choose from the outdoor fitness trail, disc golf, swimming beaches and berry picking.
