Rõuge is a destination for travellers who want to combine experiences in nature with cultural and historical discoveries. The Rõuge ürgorg valley is a defining feature: the valley formed at the end of the Ice Age around 15,000 years ago and lies in Haanja Nature Park. At its bottom, a chain of seven lakes follows one after another: Valgjärv, Liinjärv, Suurjärv, Kaussjärv, Ratasjärv, Tõugjärv and Kahrila järv. The Rõuge jõgi connects these lakes. Another striking structure is Inglisild, a 40-metre-long suspension bridge built in 2021. History and Culture in Rõuge

Away from the landscape, Rõuge also has several distinct points of interest. At the Rõuge muinastalu demonstration site, visitors can learn about the buildings and way of life of a historic farm. The workshop of the Ööbikuoru hüdrotöökoda-muuseum museum was founded in 1912, providing another way to explore the local past.

At Rõuge linnus castle, the curved rampart and the ditch in front of it are still visible in the landscape today. The castle stood on a hill between Rõuge Ööbikuorg and Rõuge Tindiorg. Its history is marked by repeated destruction: it burned down at least five times and was rebuilt after each fire. Those who appreciate historical traces in the landscape will find here a counterpoint to the lakes and forests.

Rõuge Maarja kirik is an old church of the parish centre. It was built in 1729–1730 from fieldstones in place of the earlier church, which was destroyed in the Great Northern War. The church also houses an organ with 31 stops built by the Kriisa brothers in 1930.
