Those interested in more recent history will find a special site at Võiküla’s 10-inch Coastal Defence Battery No. 36: construction began in 1915, and during the First World War it belonged to the 1st Battalion of the fortified position on the Muhu Strait. The complex is well preserved in the terrain, even though the gun emplacements and the massive concrete front wall are partly overgrown. The cobblestone road in Võiküla is in good condition.

Nature Experiences and Different Daily Rhythms

The approximately 300-metre-long Üügu cliff displays cave-like cavities formed by erosion in the limestone. Muhu’s nature trail is well suited for a hike. It runs along a field track intended primarily for walking; the longer section is marked in blue and the shorter one in red on trees and stones.

Tihuse also offers an alternative for visitors who do not want to ride: there is a hike along a cultural and historical educational trail where old traditions can be explored. At Muhu Adventure Park, visitors can explore Soviet military roads. There is also a nature and educational trail nearby focusing on military history as well as the plants, birds and insects found there.
