Põltsamaa Castle was founded on the riverbank in 1272 and was the residence of Magnus, King of Livonia. The church burned down in July 1941 and was restored by 1952. In this way, different layers of history come together in one place.

The Kuningamäe Winter Centre has a practice slope for skiers and snowboarders with a 140-metre ascent, a descent of around 200 metres, a lift, as well as small jumps, rollers and tubes.

The Kuningamäe disc golf park has a course with 10 baskets, open fairways, forest tunnels and water hazards. Use is free of charge. In the wider surroundings of Põltsamaa, WPark is located at Kamari järv in the area of Põltsamaa vald. The family leisure centre offers a full-size cable wake park, a floating water playground and an adventure park. Also in the wider surroundings is the Kuningamäe Kart Centre, with children's karts, two-seater karts, hobby karts and sport hobby karts.

A culinary speciality is the Põltsamaa Food Museum, which is located in the same premises as the Põltsamaa wine cellar. It covers local food production from coffee, potato starch and wine in the 1920s, through the Soviet era with products made in tubes for cosmonauts, to the present day. The entire wine selection can be tasted and purchased on site in the wine cellar. Tasting packages with three or five wines are available for groups.
