AP.” The stone was erected in memory of a dispute that ended in a settlement. The traditional forms of the name also give Skovbyballe a particular historical depth. The form Bellghe is documented for the year 1572. In 1652, Dankwerth recorded the form Rubsballe. Ruballe is considered the oldest presumed traditional name; the historical form Ruballe is derived from the stream Rubæk.
