Strandby combines distinctive artworks throughout the town with a Romanesque-influenced church and a variety of cycling routes. You will encounter works by local artists as soon as you arrive via any of the three access roads: the town gates on Farsøvej, Løgstørvej and Viborgvej feature motifs inspired by the Limfjord, the beach, agriculture, nature and the Marguerite Route. Art and History in Strandby

Another cultural highlight is Strandby Church. Its nave and chancel date from the late 12th century and are built in the Norman Romanesque style. The present Gothic tower and porch were built around 1500. Also around 1500, the chancel was extended with a brick cross vault decorated with wall ornaments. The church contains late Gothic frescoes from around 1475 to 1525. The furnishings date from several periods, with the Renaissance and Baroque particularly strongly represented.

To access Strandby Church, you need to collect a key at Løgstørvej 20 in Farsø. Plan for this practical step if the history and furnishings of the church are among your travel interests. To get there, bus route 112 runs via Farsø and Fandrup to Strandby.

Cycling Routes with Different Highlights

Plantagestien (118) is a local cycling route between Farsø and Strandby. It is approximately 13 km long and runs mainly along small, lightly trafficked asphalt roads and gravel forest paths. This information can help you plan your day without requiring you to assume a specific journey time. In Strandby, Plantagestien connects with the Ertebølleruten, a 45 km continuous cycling route from Hvalpsund to Aggersund.

Those looking for a historically and culturally oriented route through western Himmerland can also consider the Ertebølle cycling loop. Only parts of the Ertebølle loop are signposted because the relatively new route connects several existing routes.
