Tibirke: Sand History, Hiking Trails and Birdwatching

Tibirke combines an unusual landscape history with short hiking experiences, historical traces and nature observation. Another historical find lies in Ellemosen at the foot of Tibirke Bakker: in the 1940s, a roughly 150-metre-long pile bridge dating back around 4,800 years was discovered there. Today, you can continue beyond Ellemosen and see the place where the old bridge stood. For families, this provides a vivid link between landscape and the past, as the history can be understood at a specific location.

Nature, Views and Birdlife

Tisvilde Hegn borders Tibirke. Almost the entire area is designated as a habitat area, and part of it is also designated as a bird protection area. Those who want to include nature in their stay can take the route from Tibirke to Holløse Bredning. There, Naturstyrelsen has established a birdwatching hide in an old pump house, from which the birdlife can be observed.

For a viewpoint experience, Udsigten is a good choice. At 57 metres above sea level, this point is the highest point in Tibirke Bakker and offers views of the surrounding landscape.
