Herlev has six signposted running and walking routes ranging from 2 to 10 kilometres in length. The arboretum displays a collection of Danish trees and shrubs, labelled with information boards identifying the individual species.

The park also has a pavilion with space for a school class, a fire pit and toilets. Smørmosen and Fedtmosen are breeding and resting areas for nearly 200 bird species. Art, history and culture in Herlev

Gammelgaard is Herlev Municipality’s exhibition centre for contemporary art and presents three to four changing exhibitions throughout the year. As a cultural centre and meeting place for people of all ages, Gammelgaard also offers concerts, events and an integrated café. Herlev Church is a late-medieval building in the Gothic style. Two wall paintings were created by the Isefjordsværkstedet workshop under the direction of a so-called “Isefjordsmester” or “Vallensbækmaleren”. The church also hosts concerts featuring new and older music. The Saxbo building forms part of the local cultural and industrial history: the Saxbo ceramics company was based in Herlev from 1937 to 1968. The building is associated with Nathalie Krebs’s pioneering work as well as with local cultural and industrial history.

Further insights into the art scene can be found at Galleriet i midten in the basement of Herlev Library. The exhibitions are organised by the Herlev Art Association and can be visited during the library’s opening hours.
