Albrechtice U Mostu: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Albrechtice u Mostu combines a long local history with remarkable cultural monuments and a natural environment closely linked to the landscape of the former lignite open-pit mine. The municipality was founded at the end of the 13th century. A Romanesque All Saints’ Church is also documented in Albrechtice u Mostu.

Culture and History

The historic or formerly existing Jezeří Castle complex with arboretum is considered to comprise the castle, manor house, gatehouse, coach house, a farm building, a watchtower, a former bastion, and the arboretum. Part of this complex is located on plot 643/1 in the cadastral area of Albrechtice u Mostu.

The Hraběcí Chapel is also part of the historic buildings. It is a Baroque chapel built after 1753. The chapel is located in a forest on the eastern side of Jánský vrch, southwest of Jezeří Castle. Its condition is severely neglected: the vault and roof are missing, while vegetation is encroaching into the structure.

Natural Environment

The Československé armády Quarry National Nature Monument also extends into the cadastral area of Albrechtice u Mostu. It encompasses natural ecosystems associated with the open-pit mine of the former Československé armády lignite mine. At the same time, the national nature monument protects populations of the tawny pipit (Anthus campestris) and the northern wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe).

Hiking Route and Mining History

“Through the Beech Kingdom to Jezeří” is a challenging hiking route measuring 17 kilometres in total. It leads from Horní Jiřetín via Mariánské údolí, Mikulovice, Dřevařský rybník, Josefiina skála, and Jezeří Castle to the Albrechtická štola signpost, and then back to Horní Jiřetín.

The Albrechtická tunnel was excavated by hand from December 1978 to May 1979 and is 255 metres long.
