Čimice – Hillfort, Nature and Holiday Apartment

The hillfort in Čimice was inhabited almost continuously from the 5th century BC to the 9th century AD and is protected as a Category I archaeological monument. The former Neoclassical Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from the second half of the 18th century, stood on the rise of the old village square. Following its reconstruction, only the upper part of the bell tower remains today; a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is located in a niche in the chapel.

Among the most valuable areas of Čimice Valley are south-facing rock outcrops of hard Proterozoic schists. Plant communities of rocky steppes grow on these rock outcrops, characterised by the steppe grasses Kostřava walliská and Kostřava přitvrdlá. Numerous rare plant and animal species occur in Draháňské Valley.

A yellow-marked hiking trail begins at the Sídliště Čimice stop and leads through Draháňské Valley, past a former mill, to the banks of the Vltava. As part of the loop route, a blue-marked hiking trail leads back through Čimice Valley.
