Krotějov: Holiday apartments and houses

Krotějov combines an exceptional cultural and historical heritage with marked trails through the surrounding countryside. Traditional folk architecture, a winter lime tree more than 400 years old, and routes for hikers and cyclists create a vivid picture of this place in the foothills of the Šumava.

Cultural heritage

In the cadastral area of Krotějov, in Spíži, stands the Venkovský dům č. p. 6, which is protected as a cultural monument. The building preserves numerous historically valuable original structural elements and craft details and is considered a well-preserved example of traditional folk architecture in the foothills of the Šumava.

The history of the local estate dates back at least to 1392: at that time, Knight Bušek z Opálky acquired the Krotějov estate from the vladyka Přestav. The name Krotějov is derived from the founder of the local estate, the vladyka Krotěj, also known as Kratěj.

Nature

A distinctive natural and cultural monument is the Krotějovská lípa. The winter lime tree stands on the village green in Krotějov, is more than 400 years old, and is an important protected commemorative tree.

Hiking and cycling

Krotějov can be reached on foot via quiet local roads around the hamlet of Cihelna below Zahorčice. The access route to Krotějov is also suitable for bicycles.

A marked red long-distance hiking trail runs via Klatovy, Lehom, Strážov, Krotějov, and Děpoltice, continuing to Prenet, Můstek, Pancíř, and Špičák. For cycling, marked cycle route 2035 runs via Lehom, Klenová, Janovice nad Úhlavou, Opálka, Strážov, Zahorčice, Krotějov, and Děpoltice; it is part of the cycling network in the Strážov area.
