Bor U Tachova: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Loreta in Bor combines a clearly documented founding history with a distinctive architectural layout: Isabella von Götzen, née Trčková z Lípy, founded it in 1668 together with her husband, Zikmund Bedřich von Götzen.

Culture

At the centre of the Loreta in Bor is the so-called Holy House, surrounded by four wings of vaulted ambits. During the Loreto pilgrimage in September, the Loreta is open to the public.

Bor is also home to the Church of Saint Nicholas, a Baroque building constructed between 1737 and 1746 with a Gothic tower. A Gothic chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist is located near the former hospital. A fragment of the town walls has also been preserved in the northern part of Bor.

Bor Castle was shaped by a comprehensive Romantic reconstruction in the first third of the 19th century. The castle chapel of Saint Lawrence in Bor Castle contains restored Renaissance paintings. Guided tours of Bor Castle introduce the public to the cultural heritage of the complex.

Nature

Bor Castle Park was created around the second half of the 18th century and is a landscape park with Romantic elements. It features seven stations for educational exploration, pleasant relaxation and walks.

A near-natural landscape park covering just under 40 hectares lies on the southern outskirts of Bor. It consists of groups and larger stands of old trees separated by meadows.

Geographical Setting

Cycle Route 2207 leads directly to Bor and runs through Borovany, Bor, Lužná, Labuť, the former Bohuslav, Hošťka and the former Nová Knížecí Huť. Bor lies on the E50 road along the Plzeň–Stříbro–Bor–Rozvadov route.
